Upcoming events and activities...   

  • September 1st, Flu Vaccination Drive-Thru Clinic: Event will be from 3pm-6pm at our Public Health Center.  This clinic is for adults.  The cost of the vaccine is $25 (Medicaid, Medicare part B, and all insurance companies can be billed).  This vaccination will include protection against major circulating flu viruses including H1N1.  CLICK HERE for a map of how traffic will be routed for the event.
  • September 2nd, Diabetes Nutrition & Cooking Class: Class is from 6-7pm at our Public Health Center.  Topic: "Soups On".  If you have been diagnosed with diabetes and need assistance with meal planning and recipe ideas, this is the place for you! The program is FREE.  To register via email CLICK HERE or call 564-5559.
  • September 13th, "Growing Stronger Strength Training Program" Informational Meeting: This hour-long informational meeting starts at 5:00pm at our Public Health Center and will cover all details about the program including physician authorization forms.  Attendance to this meeting is required for those wishing to register for the program.  Regisration for the meeting itself is NOT reguired.  Growing Stronger is a free, 12-week weight lifting program for middle-aged and older adults.  Class begins in September, class size is limited and registration required. 
  • September 20th, Food Manager Certification Class: The Franklin County Board of Health requires that all food service establishments have at least one certifified food manager on duty at all times.  This course is from 12:30-4:15pm at our Public Health Center (851 East West Connector) ; the fee is $75 and certification is good for two years.  To register CLICK HERE or for more info about this course visit our Environmental Services page and click on the Food Service Workers page.
  • October 11th, Body Recall Exercise Class: This is a safe, tested program of gentle movement designed to specifically increase strength and flexibility.  Class will meet from 10-11am on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from October 11 thru December 22 at our Public Health Center.  Program is free and registration is NOT required.  Class is conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
